MS Dhoni Breaks Silence On IPL Future Ahead of Retention: Legendary Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has dropped a huge hint that he will continue to play in the OPL in 2025 and beyond.
The 43-year-old MS Dhoni may have put an end to all future rumors when he mentioned maintaining his physical condition for the “next few years” of cricket play. Based on his statements, Dhoni appears to be part of CSK’s plans for the full three-year cycle following the major auction, not only for the 2025 IPL.

“I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play,” said Dhoni in a promotional event for software brand Rigi, for whom he’s a brand ambassador, as quoted by Times of India.
“When you play cricket like a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it just like a game. That’s what I want to do. It’s not easy. The emotions keep coming, the commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years,” said Dhoni.

Dhoni’s next words made it even more clear that the IPL is certainly in his mind.
“I have to keep myself fit for nine months, so that I can play two and a half months of IPL. You need to plan it out, but at the same time chill a bit,” Dhoni said.

Before the 2024 IPL, Dhoni gave Ruturaj Gaikwad the leadership of CSK. He is still undoubtedly the greatest star in the event and has won the IPL five times, so his continued success will be beneficial for the league.
Given that Dhoni has not played for Team India in over five years, CSK may keep him as an uncapped player for just Rs 4 million. This was made possible by the reintroduction of a rule that had been repealed in 2021.
